Mold inspection

mold

What is Mold?

Mold is a type of fungus that prospers on moisture. Mold spreads by way of tiny spores that are invisible to the naked eye and float around the air until they find a surface. The presence of spores is inevitable. The good news is that only when these spores land on a surface with moisture will they begin to grow mold and spread.

Why Should I get a Mold Inspection?

A mold inspection is encouraged because mold in your home can make you sick and be especially harmful to those with allergies or asthma. Mold also has the ability to spread quickly, in as little as a few hours and can cause costly repairs. It is important to consult a professional because mold cannot always be seen. A trained professional will look for signs of past and current mold growth and help you find the root of the problem.

What to do if my Home Inspector Finds Mold?

If your home inspector finds mold during an inspection, you can talk to them about whether or not you should seek mold remediation. A mold remediation is a multi-step process that addresses the mold as well as the source of the mold. If you decide to have a mold remediation completed, it is advised to have a mold inspection completed post remediation to be sure the mold has been cleared and that it will not grow back.
